Poppy Playtime is a first-person survival horror where the player, a former employee of Playtime Co., returns to the abandoned toy factory after receiving a letter from the staff who disappeared ten years ago. The factory is filled with alive and malicious toys, and the player must solve puzzles to escape. In Chapter 1, the player receives a VHS tape, enters the factory, obtains the GrabPack, and encounters Huggy Wuggy. After restoring power, Huggy disappears, and the player uses the GrabPack to retrieve a hatch, manufacture a toy, and eventually frees Poppy from a case. In Chapter 2, after freeing Poppy, the player explores the back halls, meets the founder Elliot Ludwig, and is challenged by Mommy Long Legs to win three games in the Game Station to obtain a train code. The player crafts the green hand, obtains the code, and escapes through tunnels, but Mommy is killed by a grinder. Poppy is trapped in a spider web, the player frees her, boards the train, but Poppy diverts it, claiming she cannot let the player leave yet. The train derails near a sign pointing to Playcare.
