In the Stavropol region of Russia, drones attacked the Zvezda space intelligence unit, a key station of the Russian space electronic reconnaissance system that began operation in the 1970s to intercept satellite signals and intercontinental communications. According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Combating Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, the unit is part of the Russian General Staff’s intelligence structure, specializing in electronic surveillance of orbital signals and foreign satellite communications, and it also plays a role in cyber espionage.
