Families of Israeli hostages react to UK move to recognise a Palestinian state | BBC News

The families of Israeli hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza have said the plan by the UK and other European countries to recognise a Palestinian state "validates terrorism". On Tuesday Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced the UK would take the step in September unless Israel met certain conditions including agreeing a ceasefire and reviving the prospect of a two-state solution. In the last 24 hours, more than 100 people have been killed in Gaza and seven more have died from malnutrition, the Hamas‑run health ministry reported. The UN has said at least 500 trucks of aid a day are needed in Gaza. On Tuesday only 115 were let in.
