In this video I restore a very rusty and broken scooter from the 1970s that I bought at an online auction for $40. I was drawn to its design, especially the aluminium cast wheels, but the project proved challenging. I had to replace the tires and handles, which required research into resin and rubber casting, and I enlisted my friend @misterpatina to help with polyurethane rubber. Getting the right hardness and color was difficult. The rear fender was missing, so I had to shape a new one from metal—a first for me, but a successful test piece with aluminium gave me confidence. I also faced the issue of chrome plating the handlebar, which I couldn’t do myself due to toxicity concerns, so I opted for nickel plating instead. Nickel gives a slightly yellowish goldish touch, and after test pieces I decided to polish and nickel plate all steel parts for a uniform look and rust protection. The restoration took 50 days in the workshop and involved many new techniques. I poured my heart into the project, and the result—grey and blue paint, shiny nickel‑plated parts, and new creme‑white cast tires and handles—turned out absolutely fantastic. I’m very happy with how it turned out.
