The family of slain Australian woman Dannielle Finlay-Jones have called for reform after her teacher’s death allegedly at the hands of her new partner. Ms Finlay-Jones was found dead inside a friend’s home in Cranebrook, Sydney’s north‑west, in December 2022. Ashley Gaddie, whom she had just begun dating, was arrested for her murder following a 12‑hour stand‑off with police in the Blue Mountains. In 2024, he was found dead in his jail cell where he had been held on remand since his arrest.
