This boss fight ends up being quite the twist. As soon as the level starts, Astal is suddenly captured by a crystal monster, so you must play as the Bird to defeat it and rescue him. As the Bird, you can fly freely and attack by getting close to the monster, using its wings and talons to smack it while dodging its attacks—spinning like a tornado, swinging to the other side, dropping deadly crystals from above, or summoning minions. If the Bird dies, it vanishes, but if you win, you save Astal. Astal is surprised by the Bird’s help and grateful, though he didn’t ask for it. The Bird reminds him of Leda, yet he still needs to rescue her, so he tries to keep the Bird away to avoid danger. However, the Bird decides to stay by Astal’s side until the end. Another monster’s soul is claimed by Geist, possibly Jerado. Leda was the only person Astal had ever loved, but now he also cares for the Bird. Remembering how he destroyed his planet to protect Leda, Astal is moved to tears over his own aggression and selfishness, and he begins to care more for others, carrying this newfound compassion into his mind and heart as the Bird remains by his side.
