Inverted breathing is a technique that improves diaphragm function, expands the back body, and enhances hip mobility. By inverting the body, the diaphragm domes, which helps those with flat diaphragms. The practice also promotes posterior hip glide, reduces back compression, decreases paravertebral activity, and stabilizes the pelvis. It integrates the diaphragm into breathing and core work, encouraging a long, loud exhale through the mouth and a quiet inhale, while avoiding pelvic tuck. Using hamstrings and serratus push, and adding segmental axial rotation, the exercise supports overall mobility and core stability.
