Broadcaster Megyn Kelly, normally a defender of Donald Trump, has expressed her exasperation with his administration. Conservative broadcaster Megyn Kelly has called the current backlash over the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein case “self‑inflicted”. Ms Kelly spoke to her British counterpart Piers Morgan today, who said Donald Trump and his officials were guilty of “leading everybody up to the water’s edge and then not giving anyone a drink”. “Completely agree,” said Ms Kelly. “First of all, nobody told (Attorney‑General) Pam Bondi she had to issue that memo in the middle of a slow news summer where people would, of course, predictably be digesting it, and the Republican base would be horrified by it, for the entire summer.” That would be the memo in which the Department of Justice and FBI said they were essentially closing the Epstein case, and would not pursue any additional people for prosecution. “Whoever told the Justice Department that this could somehow be buried, and that people would move on, and that the Trump administration could get away with that ridiculous two‑page summation of ‘you’re not getting any more information because there’s no there there’ should be fired,” said Ms Kelly. “That person is an idiot, and didn’t understand the Republican base. Certainly the core MAGA base. The two men Trump put in charge of his FBI – you know, there were no bigger proponents of there being more to the Epstein story than (Director) Kash Patel and (Deputy Director) Dan Bongino. It’s actually one of the reasons the Republicans were so thrilled to see them get put in charge.
