Police carried out checks at a roadside in Culiacán, Mexico, where the bodies of 20 people, several of them decapitated, had been found earlier. Authorities say rival factions of the Sinaloa drug cartel are clashing in the area, and violence has risen in the northwestern state since the capture of cartel co‑founder Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada almost a year ago.
