Бishop Gorodetsky was elected by the Holy Synod on March 15, 2012, and later elevated to archimandrite on March 18 in the Church of Christ the Savior. On March 29 he was named bishop in the cross church of the Vladimir icon of the Mother of God in the patriarchal residence. He was consecrated as bishop on April 8 after the Divine Liturgy in the same church, with the participation of Patriarch Kirill, Metropolitan Juvenal, Metropolitan Georgiy, Archbishop Dmitry, Bishop Feofilakt, Bishop Aristarch, and Bishop Sergiy. On August 24, 2023, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church canonized him as a saint, with his repose in Nizhny Novgorod. The Gorodetsky eparchy, part of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis, serves the parishes in the region.
