In 2019, Nitasha Kaul made a mistake that led to punishment in 2025. She claimed in the U.S. Congress that India occupies Kashmir, accusing India of atrocities against Muslims there while ignoring the suffering of Kashmiri Pandits, of which she herself is a member. Consequently, the Indian government revoked her OCI card, preventing her from entering India.
