Today I left Kharkiv for Kyiv with a group, meeting at the South station near the Unbreakable point. We started the day with coffee and headed to the Kyiv‑Pechersk Lavra. After buying metro tickets and taking the train to Arsenalna station, we walked about twenty minutes to the Lavra. The morning was quiet, with lilacs and chestnut trees blooming in a green park bathed in sunrise light. The lower cave entrance was closed, but the upper Lavra was free for early visitors. Inside, the monastery buildings were stunning, and we approached the bell tower and the Uspensky Cathedral. A pile of bricks marked the site of a 11th‑century church that had been destroyed. We then went to the Divine Liturgy at the UOC, where we could access two lower Lavra churches: St. Sergius of Radonezh and Agapit of Pechersk. The service at St. Sergius was already halfway, but the small church was too crowded, so we moved to Agapit’s church, where beautiful iconography and icons with relics were displayed. We prayed, left notes, and lit candles before finishing our visit and heading to Khreshchatyk.
