Barrister Babu, the Indian drama dubbed in Turkish as Aşkın Kanunu, follows the story of Bondita Das, an eight‑year‑old girl who defies traditional expectations in 1920s colonial India, and Anirudh Roy Choudhary, a lawyer returning from London determined to challenge the caste system. Bondita’s family wants her to marry an older man, but she writes a letter to her future husband demanding two conditions: plenty of sweets and her mother’s presence. The letter ends up in Anirudh’s hands, and he marries Bondita after her fiancé dies before the wedding, hoping to protect her from the village’s attempts to burn her and her husband. The series explores whether their marriage can become a strong relationship and whether Anirudh can bring about social change for his country.
