Building Chords - Ch.3 | Part 5 (Spreads - Dim & Aug Transitions )

In this video we explore spread voicings, covering diminished and augmented chords and how to use them as transitions. We start with a 5‑of chord at 1:54, then discuss dim shapes at 3:27, 9:25, and 13:41, and the easiest shapes at 18:21. Next we cover resolving techniques from 20:34 to 39:32, including turning the root into b2, b7, and resolving diminished straight to major or minor. We practice exercises at 41:51 and 46:49, then move to all chords in the key from 51:02 to 1:12:18, covering vertical, inversions, muscle memory, 5‑of’s, diminished, and exercises. We demonstrate dim over Hotel California at 1:17:13 and Little Wing at 1:25:37. Finally, we cover augmented shapes at 1:38:42, resolving from 5‑of at 1:43:11, resolving aug and dim at 1:51:14, starting locations at 1:54:47, and augmented over Little Wing at 1:57:12.
