Colombian President Gustavo Petro claimed a conservative presidential candidate’s security was “strangely reduced” before he was shot, raising concerns of a possible plot. Senator Miguel Uribe, 39, was critically wounded by a 15-year-old alleged hitman while campaigning in Bogotá. Authorities say the attacker used a gun bought legally in Arizona but don’t yet know who hired him. Petro, while condemning the attack, also alleged threats against himself and called for a full investigation, Barron’s has reported. Uribe’s lawyer filed a complaint against the head of Colombia’s protection agency, citing ignored requests to boost Uribe’s security.
