The bishop was elected by the Holy Synod on 15 March 2012 and was elevated to archimandrite on 18 March at the Church of Christ the Savior. On 29 March he was named bishop in the cross‑shaped church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in the patriarchal residence on Chistom Pereulok. He was consecrated as bishop on 8 April after the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Christ the Savior. The consecration was performed by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus, Metropolitan Juvenal of Krutitsy and Kolomna, Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, Archbishop Dimitry of Vitebsk and Orshansk, Bishop Theophylact of Dmitrov, Bishop Aristarch of Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk, and Bishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk. On 24 August 2023 the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church declared him deceased, with his repose in Nizhny Novgorod.
