France faces massive holiday gridlock as traffic tops 1,000 km | AFP

Aerial images show midday traffic congestion in the Rhône Valley on the A7 motorway near Valence and north of Orange, as well as on the A11 motorway near Corzé, close to Angers. More than 1,000 km of traffic jams were recorded on Saturday at midday, classified as black in the direction of departures for the traditional summer crossover between July and August holidaymakers.
