Four armed occupiers and a group of hostages are in a bank, including manager Vladimir Vladimirovich, an injured security guard, nurse Sveta, the funny Fatty, a pilot, and a pregnant wife. Outside the bank, an unknown Kovalov directs the occupiers and sends instructions. In the café across the street, new people gather at the center of the hostage‑release operation: a parliamentarian, a medium, and independent journalist Janna. The occupiers’ commander contacts operation commander Alabayev and demands the keys to all bank vaults. Their superiors order an assault on the bank. During the attack, several soldiers and a bandit die. The occupiers succeed, but only three remain—Commander, Krest, and Ivan. Alabayev goes to meet the bandits. He almost makes contact with the commander, but Krest suddenly enrages and hits Alabayev on the head.
