Silent songster: Grey-winged Blackbird sits in silence on an oak tree in Mussoorie

Grey‑winged Blackbird, one of India’s finest songsters, is seen in the Uttarakhand Himalaya. In this footage, the bird scrabbles around in the undergrowth of the Wildfilms India sanctuary at Jabbarkhet, pecking for insects beneath dry oak leaves. While typically vociferous, the bird sits quietly on a deodar twig or an oak tree, taking advantage of Rhododendron flower heads near the Bindal stream at Motidhar Estate in Mussoorie.
