The game by John Carpenter is a version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" for the Nintendo Wii, released in 2007 as the first edition in the United Kingdom. It is the first Wii title and the first after the GBA Junior version, and it was later ported to the DS. Unlike the second edition developed by Route1Games and Slam!, this version uses a 15‑question format. The music plays continuously throughout the questions and only stops if an incorrect answer is given or when the final answer is presented, although the music abruptly cuts off at the £500,000 question. This edition is notable for being the first Millionaire game officially announced as a first edition, despite being the fifth game released on a major console after earlier titles by Eidos and Party Edition. The game also features a collection of potential World Tour content that was planned for a 2010 release but never launched.
