Dr. Ankit Shah explains how the modern world has replaced the traditional Guru—once a source of wisdom and moral compass—with information outlets driven by commercial intent. Today’s influencers and media sources don’t aim to enlighten; they aim to convert you into customers. According to him, this shift has led to a collapse in Dharma, where neither community nor family has an intellectual anchor. Dr. Shah warns against treating the Mahabharata or Ramayana as blueprints of ideal Dharma. Instead, he urges us to see them as case studies of failure—showing what goes wrong when society lacks true guidance. Despite having Gurus like Dronacharya and elders like Bhishma, the Kauravas’ downfall came from misplaced loyalties and rigid vows. Bhishma and Dronacharya were bound by oaths, not by Dharma’s higher truth. Gandhari symbolizes today’s helpless majority—aware of what’s wrong, but unable or unwilling to act. Dr. Shah draws powerful parallels between Mahabharata’s characters and modern radicalization, comparing Shakuni to extremist ideologues, and Dhritarashtra to blind secularism—unable to distinguish between right and wrong, leading to moral collapse. He ends by showing how Bhishma represents karmic entrapment—being stuck in suffering due to unresolved vows from past actions. This, he says, mirrors all our lives. Until we learn the lesson life is teaching us, our old mistakes will return—copy‑pasted in the next life.
