Nearly 100 people have been killed in the most extensive ground assault on northern Gaza since Israel resumed its offensive in early March, according to the Hamas-run civil defence agency. Israel is alleged to have launched a large-scale ground, air and sea assault in the early hours of Friday morning. In a post on Telegram, Mahmoud Basal from Gaza's Hamas-run civil defence agency described the situation in north Gaza as a "bloody and difficult day".
