"PLASTIC DEFENCE" is a documentary about illegal 3D‑printed firearms circulating in Europe and the decentralized network behind them. The weapons are strong, do not explode in hand, and are impossible to trace, with production taking place in people’s bedrooms. The film follows the Popular Front’s access to the network that designs and creates these guns, known as "Deterrence Dispensed," and their mission to provide the world with untraceable homemade firearms. The crew spent time with the movement’s founder, Jestarck, who demonstrated how he designs firearms, builds them in his workshop, and even produces contraband 9‑mm ammunition. They also ventured into the woods with Jestarck to test the power of the 3D‑printed weapons and assess their danger to Europe. Jestarck claims the group helps people living under authoritarian regimes fight their oppressors, but the free distribution of this technology is completely unregulated, raising the risk that many innocent people could be harmed if it falls into the wrong hands.
