Dave Harmon, a U.S. marshal, has been ordered by the governor to serve in the territory of Yuma, a place where the law is not welcome. Every marshal sent there has been chased out, but Harmon is determined to stay. Upon arriving, he encounters two drunks and asks them to come with him to cool off, but one of them pulls a gun.
