In the Slavic tradition, the Day of the Goddess Rozhana is celebrated according to ancient calendars. According to folk lore, Saint Lonkhin stands at the gate, preventing evil from entering the courtyard, and the gate is seen as a boundary between the inner world and the outside. On this day people pray to Saint Lonkhin for eye ailments, and they observe omens such as the brightness of Lonkhin's stars and the appearance of the moon to predict weather. The Virgin Rozhana, also called Mother Rodicha, is revered as the goddess of family prosperity, inner wealth, and comfort, and sacrifices were made to her. Marina Volkova of Slodvor wrote a poem in honor of Rozhana, describing celestial imagery and the goddess's watchful gaze over the world.
