Mehine Skoui was an Iranian theater director, actor, translator, and teacher who played a pivotal role in the development of Iranian theater. Born in 1930 in Tehran, she began acting at 16 in the Ferdowsi Theater, becoming one of the first Iranian women on stage. She studied directing at the Moscow School of Drama, where she also learned the Stanislavski system, earning a diploma in 1969. After returning to Iran, she co‑founded the Anahita Theater with her husband, Mustafa Skoui, and later established the Time Theater. She translated and staged works by Maxim Gorky, Chekhov, and others, and directed productions such as "The House of Dolls" and "The Bear". She also taught the Stanislavski method to a generation of actors, publishing three volumes of training materials in 1990. Her work extended to television, where she directed live broadcasts for the national network. She passed away in 2015, leaving a lasting legacy in Iranian theater.
