In this lecture, Sergey Novikov explores two tactics of social democracy within the democratic revolution, focusing on Lenin’s 1905 book written 120 years ago. He addresses seven key questions: the book’s contemporary relevance, the necessity of completing a bourgeois‑democratic revolution for a socialist one, the distinction between Lenin and the opportunist Milyar, the compatibility of the temporary government’s slogan with a socialist program, Lenin’s shift from supporting to opposing the temporary government between 1905 and 1917, the difference between revolutionary success in practice versus rhetoric, and the relationship between the forms and content of resolutions on the temporary government.
