A tragic stampede occurred around 3:30 a.m. on May 3 during the annual Lairai Jatra at the Shree Lairai Devi temple in Shirgaon village, Bicholim, North Goa. Thousands of devotees from across Goa and Maharashtra had gathered to participate in the event. Unfortunately, the large crowd led to a stampede, resulting in the death of at least 6 people and injuries to many individuals, including children, women, men, and senior citizens. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident while rescue and relief efforts continue.
