Indonesia in the 70s/80s/90s | HD Footage (Jakarta, Bali, Java) [No Hijab]

Scenes from everyday life in Indonesia from the 1970s to the 1990s, using restored 35mm footage that has been digitized and upscaled to 4K. Some of these images come from real life, others from documentaries, and others from films, but together, they outline a recognizable pattern of what life in Indonesia was like during those years, according to information provided by our distribution partners. It was a life both more indigenous and more Westernized, and far removed from extreme Islamism. Our project aims to reconstruct fragments of the past to develop a virtual library of visual anthropology; something greatly needed in today’s globally ethnographic world.
