The song "Orenburg Feather Scarf" was composed by Grigory Ponomarenko with lyrics by Viktor Bokov and performed by the Orenburg State Academic Russian Folk Choir under the direction of Vladimir Pozdneev. The story of its creation dates back to 1958 when the choir was founded and Ponomarenko and Bokov were invited to write songs for the program. Despite their efforts, they could not find a piece that resonated with the choir. An inspiration struck when Bokov chose a warm Orenburg scarf as a gift for his mother, leading to the birth of the song. The first rehearsal was emotionally charged and ultimately failed, but the singers later sent a letter of gratitude. The song quickly became popular, especially in the rendition by Ludmila Zykina, whose performance was praised by Ponomarenko as exemplary.
