Poland: Electoral commission will consider erroneously completed protocols

The validity of Poland’s recent presidential election will be decided by the Supreme Court after reviewing a report from the National Electoral Commission (PKW) and any protests submitted by June 16. Official results show Karol Nawrocki winning narrowly with 50.89% of the vote against Rafal Trzaskowski’s 49.11%. Over 160,000 people have signed an online petition demanding a full vote recount due to the close margin, many invalid votes, and reported irregularities, such as swapped results in some polling stations. Authorities are investigating these issues, while Prime Minister Donald Tusk urged calm, stating that all reported irregularities are being checked and that premature claims of rigging harm the country, Euro News has reported. Supporters of the incumbent president also dismissed the allegations as attempts to undermine the election.
