Styled and created to accompany Dita Von Teese's "Tryst" set, my stylist/creative director and designer explains the source of inspiration behind this look: "This creation is my ode to the glamorous essence of the showgirl aesthetic, with a particular focus on the symbolism and evolution of the bustle in stage costumes. I designed this show‑stopping purple look, featuring a dramatic bow and flowing tail in vibrant satin brocade, adorned with metallic floral motifs, to echo the opulence that defines showgirl ensembles. The silhouette reimagines the bustle, a hallmark of showgirl fashion from the late 19th century, as a bold, modern statement of theatrical elegance. I drew significant inspiration from the 1950s and 1960s, particularly the bold fashion and hairstyles of the era. The oversized hair bow and envisioned high ponytail were inspired by icons like Brigitte Bardot and Priscilla Presley, whose voluminous hairstyles and accessories embodied a playful yet sophisticated femininity. For me, these elements tie this design to a golden age of glamour, where showgirl style evolved into something timeless. This look was created as a tribute to Dita Von Teese, who has long been a muse of mine. It was specifically designed to complement her “Tryst” lingerie set in purple, creating a seamless blend of intimate wear and performance art. Her career, steeped in burlesque traditions and historical fashion, has been a constant source of inspiration for me. I admire how she modernises historical aesthetics while respecting their origins, and I sought to mirror that ethos in this design. I wanted this styling and look to capture the spirit of an era where showgirls blended sensuality, artistry, and history into unforgettable performances. For me, the vibrant colours, meticulous styling, and homage to iconic figures ensure that this creation is not only a celebration of showgirl history but also a love letter to the enduring legacy of Dita Von Teese herself."
