The Trump administration is restructuring Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) leadership amid White House frustration over immigration arrests and deportations. Kenneth Genalo, head of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), is retiring and will advise the agency as a special government employee. Robert Hammer, leader of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), has been reassigned to another key role. They will be replaced by career ICE officials Marcos Charles and Derek Gordon. The changes aim to boost ICE’s operational efforts to meet White House demands, including a target of 3,000 arrests per day. White House officials say current arrest numbers are better than under the Biden administration but still insufficient, CBS News has reported. This leadership shake-up follows previous changes earlier in the Trump administration.
