Why North-East wants to Separate from India

Just four months before Independence, on April 18, 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru delivered a controversial statement: “Any princely state unwilling to join India will be considered a hostile nation and treated as an enemy of the state.” The result? By August 15, 1947—before India was officially free—560 princely states peacefully handed over their centuries-old rule to the Indian government. For the first time in history, a nation divided into hundreds of kingdoms became a single Democratic Republic—India. But this raises a question: Was modern India, our democracy, actually built under the threat of force? Were states like Hyderabad, Kashmir, Manipur, and those in the Northeast coerced into joining India? If yes, then is India doing to them what China is accused of doing to Tibet?
