3. Amazonian adventures. The Tiсuna tribe.

For a week we lived in the village of the Tikuna tribe in the Amazon. The tribe was not very welcoming, but modern. Nacho, the informal head of the tribe, had a flatscreen and laptops at home, but he could use them only for a couple of hours a day. Near the village there was a diesel power generator that ran from 10 AM to 12 PM and from 5 PM to 11 PM. Just before we left, two Indians got drunk and an altercation broke out; one smashed the back of the other's head and sat on the logs, sobbing. People tried to save the unconscious, bleeding man while his mother screamed helplessly near the stretcher. There was no hospital in the middle of the jungle, so the whole village took the boy to the riverbank, where they waited for a boat to take him to the nearest village’s hospital. We still do not know if he survived, and we left the village the next day.
