A man and two children were killed in record-breaking flash floods that hit Ruidoso, New Mexico, on Tuesday. Heavy rains over burn scars from last year’s wildfires caused the Rio Ruidoso to surge to 20 feet, breaking previous records. More than 65 people were rescued, with three hospitalized in stable condition. Around 35 to 50 homes were damaged or destroyed. Officials issued multiple alerts and had the National Guard in place but warned the flooding developed rapidly, ABC News has reported.
