So let's talk about ideal band clearance for a 4L60E.
Well, once the servo's installed, you have the band here on the drum in position.
You should be able to spin this drum nice and easy without any dragging.
You'll notice the band pretty much hugs the drum, but it's not actually making contact with the drum.
So it more or less fits like a glove.
And you can spin the drum freely.
There's no binding.
Nothing's preventing it from moving.
But the band, you know, the clearance on the band is just about an eighth of an inch.
Now this is a wide 2-4 band.
They're made by Alto.
And I install these on pretty much every 4L60E or 700R4 that I build when I go back in with a brand new drum or a remachined drum, which is an overwhelming majority of the time.
So with band clearance like this,
your shifts into second gear and the fourth gear will be more positive and simply overall better than you would have with a stock band with looser clearance.
So when you set your servo up correctly and your band clearance up correctly, this is what it'll look like.
