More than 240 people were killed when an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed seconds after take‑off from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India. The aircraft struck a densely‑populated area shortly after clearing the runway, causing widespread devastation and many ground casualties. Of the 242 people on board, all but one—British passenger Vishwashkumar Ramesh, who sat in seat 11a on the London‑bound flight—died. Ramesh escaped the wreckage and is receiving treatment in hospital. Rescue workers continue to search the disaster site.
