Amid perfect camouflage of stones and soil, cute young Stone Curlew chicks hide on ground in Delhi

During the post‑breeding season, young Eurasian Stone Curlew chicks can be seen at Wilderness Orchard in Delhi, where they hide among stones and soil, camouflaged from predators. Their parents sit nearby on the scrape, keeping the eggs as the chicks occasionally preen, stretch their wings, and play. The chicks have striking large yellow eyes, and they remain mostly quiet during the day, becoming active at night. Even in the hot Delhi climate, the parents protect the eggs, tucking them into the burrow and shielding them from predators such as macaques and cats.
