Amol Palekar convinced Shah Rukh Khan to produce the "Paheli" movie.

Amol Palekar: I went to Shah Rukh Khan and asked him if he would like to do this role. He said that he would do this role only if he produces it. This film was made on such a huge scale, it stars Rani Mukherjee, Juhi Chawla, Shah Rukh Khan, Sunil Shetty, Anupam Kher, Meena Kulkarni, Rajpal Yadav and Amitabh Bachchan. Despite having such a big star cast, I shot this film in 47 days.
