I used to play against traffickers and I always did it with a lot of personality.
I already loved a ball.
This dream is growing and growing and today it has become a reality.
Everything has a purpose.
I think it's one of the most difficult parts that I've been through.
I always talk a lot to God, but when I get rebuked...
Anthony, one of the reasons football is called the beautiful game.
From the heart of the favela to the grand stages of Europe, his story is one of belief, of Brazilian flair, but above all of unbreakable resilience.
This is the journey of Real Betis' electric number seven, a wild ride from São Paulo to Seville, ending in a European final and filled with unforgettable La Liga moments.
Anthony was born in Osasco, nicknamed Little Hell, on the outskirts of Sao Paulo.
There, pressure didn't come from stadium crowds or from his manager.
It came from hunger, from survival.
He always fought for it, though, and at 10 years old, his dream began in Sao Paulo's Athlete Academy.
But like all great stories, the road ahead wasn't straightforward.
In 2019, Anthony, aged 19, was asked to drop down for Brazil's top youth tournament, the Copa São Paulo, despite training with the senior team previously.
Most would have felt it was a setback, but Anthony saw it as a chance.
He lit the competition up, four goals, six assists and a trophy.
Suddenly, he wasn't just a prospect, he was the real deal.
And Europe took notice.
Ajax was the next destination, two years of brilliance wowing Dutch fans.
But then came Manchester United, and with it, one of the hardest chapters to his career to date.
The pressure returned, but this time it was silent.
Anthony later revealed he went days without eating.
He told his brother, I need to leave.
You have to be a little further away from your family.
To have the dream you have of Tico, you have to...
You have to sacrifice something.
In January 2025, he made the move that changed everything.
Real Betis, a fresh start in football's most passionate city.
Of course, I had a proposal, but when Betis showed up, my wife and I were talking and I felt a certainty in my heart that I was so calm.
So I'm very happy to be here.
In 17 games of Antony, Real Batiste lost only three.
Antony contributed to four goals in his first four league matches.
The magic was immediate.
We have a very natural drive.
I don't plan to do things before.
I'm always creating new things so that everyone loves it.
With each touch, he reminded the world why football is joy.
And in Seville, that joy had found a home.
The chemistry with Isco, another Betis baller, unreal.
Spanish flair met Brazilian brilliance and the fans felt it.
Anthony's impact had the player and other former teammates reacting in almost desperation about how they could keep him.
Isco first warned, Antonio of Triana, first warning, we're going to kidnap you.
Joaquin, a Real Batiste club legend, also chimed in, I'll provide the car, he's not leaving.
That's how much Anthony meant to Batiste, to the fans and to the city.
And nowhere was it clearer than El Gran Derby.
A derby which is a must-see for any fan visiting Spain.
Passion, pyro, pride.
Anthony didn't score, he didn't assist, but he battled, he fought, he showed fire and wore the Real Batiste badge on his sleeve.
Moments like this, he'd once only dreamed of them.
Barefoot in the favela, now they were his reality.
All the hunger, the heartbreak, the sacrifice dissolved into the warm, severe night.
And it wasn't just in Spain he shone.
In Europe, he helped guide Betis to the UEFA Conference League final with two goals and an assist in the semis.
Seven goal contributions across the tournament.
He had arrived and he had showed his quality.
Even if that journey ended in defeat, there was no doubt.
Anthony had changed the energy at Real Batiste.
The fans are incredible.
Every game, at home and away, they are always playing with us.
Before the game, I always feel something very good in my heart because the fans are incredible.
But with the end of the season came some potentially painful news for fans.
It appears his time in southern Spain has come to an end.
I don't know about the future, but I'm very delighted with the club, with the players, with the coach, with everyone, and with the fans.
I don't know what could happen.
Whatever happens next, one thing is clear.
Ansley isn't just a footballer.
He's a symbol of joy, of heart, of hope.
And whatever pitch he steps onto next, you'll be watching.
