Someone requested this video game theme and I thought it was a great idea. Home video game systems like Atari, Nintendo and Sega were the big trendy things to come out of the 80’s, and the trend has only gotten more popular. Video game music was always there but it was never the main focus. Nowadays I’m finding that most of my younger students only want to learn video game themes now. Sometimes when I was gaming as a kid I would put on classic records in the background. This is definitely a bigger discussion of how Rock n Roll and video games are fellow travellers in our cultural entertainment journey. Contra was always my favourite video game. It was a mashup up of Rambo and Aliens. When that famous cheat code came out (up up down down left right left right B A start) I remember it made the game even more fun because we were actually able to get past the snow level.
