Did you know for The Mask, prior to Cameron Diaz landing her first acting role as Tina Carlyle, the producers had originally suggested Anna Nicole Smith.

Ultimately, the decision was reversed when they found Diaz while she was leaving a modeling agency.

Although they did make her audition 12 times for the part, only landing the role seven days before shooting began.

New Line Cinema did not want Diaz for the film since she was a model with no acting experience.

But director Chuck Russell was so insistent on having her that he threatened not to do the film if he couldn't cast her.

Two, Matthew Broderick was the first choice for the role of Stanley Ipkiss, although the studio never approached him for the role, and Jim Carrey was eventually cast.

He was intrigued that they wanted him for the role and was honestly waiting for the studio to give him a call and ask if he would be interested, but he never received that call.

Once he heard they had cast Jim Carrey, he knew it would be a film many people would laugh out loud while watching.

In the end, he felt Jim Carrey was the best actor for the movie.
