Elon Musk officially leaves DOGE #breakingnews #elonmusk #doge #donaldtrump #usa Tech billionaire Elon Musk has announced his resignation from his position within the US government, after leading the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in a controversial effort to reduce federal spending. “As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” he posted on X. Earlier, Musk said he was “disappointed” by the US President’s “big, beautiful” spending bill. The tech billionaire said Mr Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act”, which offers tax relief and spending cuts, would increase the deficit and undermine the work of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). “I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Mr Musk said in an excerpt of his upcoming interview with CBS News. “A bill can be big, or it can be beautiful. But I don’t know if it can be both. My personal opinion.” Critics have warned the bill, which passed the US House last week and now moves to the Senate, will decimate health care and balloon the national deficit by as much as $4 trillion over a decade. When asked about Mr Musk’s criticism, the President did not directly address the billionaire’s comments but he said he plans to negotiate aspects of the bill. “We will be negotiating that bill, and I’m not happy about certain aspects of it, but I’m thrilled by other aspects of it,” Trump told reporters at the Oval Office. “It’s the big, beautiful bill, but the beautiful is because of all the things we have.” It comes after Mr Musk complained in a separate interview that DOGE had become a lightning rod for criticism. “DOGE is just becoming the whipping boy for everything,” he told the Washington Post ahead of Space X’s latest launch on Tuesday. “Something bad would happen anywhere, and we would get blamed for it even if we had nothing to do with it.” Mr Musk blamed entrenched US bureaucracy for DOGE’s failure to achieve all of its goals. “The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realised,” he said. “I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in DC, to say the least.” --- This production uses an automated voice-over to assist viewers. -- Connect With news.com.au Online ► [] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Follow Us: Facebook ► [ Instagram ► [ Podcast ► [ TikTok ► [@news.com.au] Twitter ► [ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe To Our YouTube Channel For The Very Latest News From Australia And Around The World: ► [ ► [ ► [ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
