Copyright restrictions pose a challenge for our channel. YouTube automatically monetizes the songs in this mix, directing ad revenue to copyright owners. This means we can’t control the ads or their frequency. As a result, 99.9% of MAJ’s yearly viewership generates no income for us due to copyrighted music. MAJ’s mission is to share high-quality vinyl-only mixes. To continue, we need support to maintain our studio and cover expenses. Please consider supporting us on Patreon. Or make a one-time donation with no sign-up: ---------------------- In this mix, Cyril offers a journey through the label's eclectic catalogue. He picked records at random from the discography before coming to play his set, and he will be just as surprised as you by the selection. You will hear music from all regions and all eras, with no stylistic boundaries. Bongo Joe could be defined as a label on a mission, doing things on their own terms, without hierarchy making sense of the world and industry from their community base and record store/cafe/concerts and event space in Geneva Switzerland. From helping launch careers of international artists such as The Mauskovic Dance Band, Yīn Yīn, Altin Gün, Nusantara Beat, Lalalar or Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek to shining a light on the thriving, experimental scene in their home country of Switzerland (bands like Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, L’eclair, Cyril Cyril, Sami Galbi, Meril Wubslin, Hyperculte or Amami) Bongo Joe’s knack for unearthing, discovering and championing localized and unknown music scenes is reflected in their growing re-issue catalogue. Celebrating their 10 years in 2025, the Swiss sonic explorers is constantly reaffirming the label’s disregard of genres and boundaries. The store and label is named in tribute to the very unique American street musician George 'Bongo Joe' Coleman (1923 – 1999) who was very popular in Texas and despite lucrative offers from established venues, for 30 years, preferred playing on the streets of different US cities and recorded his only album in San Antonio: George Coleman: Bongo Joe, in 1968 with producer Chris Strachwitz of Arhoolie Records. ------------ Cameras: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro Mixer by Resør Electronics: Resør 2533FX Turntables: Pioneer DJ PLX-1000 Stylus & Cartridges by Ortofon UK: Ortofon 2M Blue & Ortofon Concorde MKII Twin Club DJ Record Cleaning Brush: Record brush “Joni” Equipment Provided by Audio Gold: Leben CS 600x Valve power amplifier Grundig Audiorama Hanging Speakers Yamaha CR-2020 vintage receiver Mordaunt Short Festival Series 2 vintage speakers Audio Gold custom Technics plinths The “Aladdin’s Cave of hi-fi” Audio Gold specialises in new and second-hand stereo equipment for your home, restaurant or bar.
