Girolamo De Simone, born in Naples in 1964, is a musicologist, performer and cultural activist considered one of the most relevant figures on the fringes of the Italian musical new avant‑garde. As a pianist and composer, he was inspired by John Cage, Giuseppe Chiari and Luciano Cilio. He has performed in Italy and Europe, always arousing his audience’s enthusiasm with interpretations that are both terse and impassioned. He has realized important performances in Europe for UNESCO in Paris, Swiss Radio‑Television, Deutschlandfunk, and in Italy for Rai Due, Radio Rai Tre, Musica Verticale, Arsenale Musica, Musicaexperimento, among others. He has published a number of CDs, books and essays, and founded the contemporary music journal KonSequenz as well as the Konsequenz Music Project for the production of records, concerts and multimedia events.
