Before the beginning of the Eastern Front War of the USSR, there was a gap in one big conflict – the three‑month‑old war with Finland. In the world it is customary to call it the Winter War. Nevertheless, this war claimed many lives, showed the catastrophic inability of the Soviet army to conduct major operations, and, according to many historians, hastened the date of the German attack on the USSR.
