Description:

Before the beginning of the Eastern Front War of the USSR, there was a gap in one big conflict – the three‑month‑old war with Finland. In the world it is customary to call it the Winter War. In the current post‑tradean world, look at the collision, which is diametrically proliferating. Some of them are encouraged by a heroic campaign for the destruction of the Finnish fascists, others by a forced world for the defense of Leningrad, and still others by an aggressive attempt to capture a foreign state because of imperial ambitions. Arguments are being conducted on how much moreover, was it victory or defeat. But on the other hand, all these points of view are not particularly common in society. Simply because the vast majority knows little about this war at all. Someone may remember the Mannerheim line, and that’s all. It is not customary to talk about her. Nevertheless, this war claimed many lives, showed the catastrophic inability of the Soviet army to conduct major operations, and, according to many historians, hastened the date of the German attack on the USSR. Let’s try to figure out today why the Soviet Union needed Finland, did it succeed in achieving its goals, and what was it all about – victory or defeat?
