Hitchhiking Through Taliban Territory! Alone!

I set out for Mazar‑i‑Sharif, not knowing what awaited me. The uncertainty of the first minutes turned into a real fight for survival. I tried to stop passing vehicles, but hitchhiking barely exists here; drivers were scared to stop. I encountered armed men, was stopped multiple times at Taliban checkpoints, had my passport checked, children surrounded me and searched my pockets, and heard stories of people being robbed. I was surprised to meet Afghans who had worked illegally in Turkey for years. Crossing Afghanistan’s harsh mountain roads, long hours, broken paths and nervous stares, every stop had a new story. When I arrived in Mazar‑i‑Sharif, the city felt like a different world: colourful markets, children trying to steal, people living between armed groups. This video shows the reality of travelling in Afghanistan — exactly as it is. A real experience, a dangerous hitchhiking adventure, and Afghanistan’s harsh face.
