Kohli and Koli are different! 🤔

Kohli and Koli may sound similar but have entirely different origins. Prajakta belongs to the Koli community, one of India’s oldest communities dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization, known especially in Maharashtra as a traditional fishing community. Historical figures such as Maharishi Valmiki and former President Ram Nath Kovind are believed to be from the Koli community. In contrast, Virat belongs to the Kohli community, a Punjabi Khatri surname linked to families that migrated during the Partition. It is associated with both Hindu and Sikh traditions, with well-known figures like Manmohan Singh.
