Description:

The Moskva missile cruiser, a Soviet and Russian warship of project 1164, served as the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet from 1982 until its sinking in 2022. After being repaired in April 2020, it operated near Snake Island during the Ukraine conflict, participating in artillery preparation and earning notoriety for the phrase "Russian warship, go on" after a Ukrainian demand to surrender. On 13 April 2022, the cruiser was struck by two R‑360 Neptune missiles launched from the coastal anti‑ship complex, following initial attacks by Bayraktar TB2 drones that disabled its radar. The impact caused a fire and ammunition detonation, leading to the ship's loss of stability and eventual sinking in a storm. Rescue efforts by a Turkish vessel saved 54 crew members, while the rest were lost, with subsequent reports confirming additional casualties. The sinking of the Moskva represented the most costly naval loss for Russia in the war with Ukraine.
